Faculty of Psychology Unpad Students Collaborate with Manjah Bereum Village Community through Applied Community Psychology Course

Psychology students of Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) successfully held Festival Hujan (Rain Festival) and Community Mapping activities in Manjah Beureum Village, Cileunyi Kulon, Bandung Regency, on 17 December 2023. The activity, which lasted for one full day, was part of a series of Applied Community Psychology courses and involved all students.

From early November to mid-December, Unpad students continuously visited Manjah Bereum Village. They conducted community mapping to identify the residents’ potential. Then, based on the mapping results, each group of students carried out various projects, ranging from interacting with village youth, guarding gender-based disasters and health issues, planting food crops, and making traditional games with children.

The highlight of the event was marked by an environmental-themed song-making workshop. Students jointly created lyrics and musical arrangements, which were then presented. This activity also involved resource persons who provided material on music and the environment.

The main purpose of this activity is to provide an opportunity for students to apply the knowledge they have gained in college directly in the community. In addition, this activity also aims to increase public awareness about the importance of protecting the environment and preserving local culture.

During the activity, students also had the opportunity to learn many things from the residents of Manjah Bereum Village. Starting from harvesting local knowledge about organic farming, natural resource management, to local wisdom that has been passed down from generation to generation.

This activity is expected to establish a good relationship between Unpad students and the people of Manjah Bereum Village. In addition, this activity is also expected to make a positive contribution to village development.
