2024 Faculty of Psychology Unpad Student Election: Upholding Transparent and Participatory Leadership

On November 30, 2024, the Faculty of Psychology at Padjadjaran University held a vote count to determine the President of the Student Executive Board and members of the Student Representative Body for the 2025 term. The afternoon event, held in the ABC Hall, Building 2, R Mar’at Wiradimadja, is a significant moment in the faculty’s internal democratic process.

In the announcement of the vote count results, Meisyandi Rafifatari was declared elected as President of Fapsi Unpad’s Student Executive Board for the 2025 term. Furthermore, the student legislative election resulted in the election of 11 Student Representative Body senators representing various classes: 4 senators from the class of 2022, 4 senators from the class of 2023, and 3 senators from the class of 2024. The vote count process was conducted openly and witnessed by the candidate teams and the committee to ensure transparency and credibility of the results.

The vote counting day is designed to encourage student involvement in the decision-making process while also emphasizing the principle of leadership accountability. With a transparent counting mechanism, it is hoped that student aspirations will be clearly expressed and the results easily accounted for.

The vote-counting event is not simply about appointing leaders; it also serves as a means of democratic education for the community. Through direct experience in the election and counting process, students are expected to gain a deeper understanding of the importance of participation, organizational ethics, and social responsibility within the campus community.

With the election of the new Student Executive Board President and senators, it is hoped that the 2025 administration will strengthen communication between students and faculty, champion academic and non-academic aspirations, and contribute to the development of an inclusive, just, and peaceful campus environment.
