Author Finnayatus S, J Darren S
In order to commemorate National Book Day, the Department of Community Service, Faculty of Psychology, Padjadjaran University, through “Kancil” (Gerakan Kecil), organized an activity entitled PENA (Petualangan Edukasi dan Narasi Kancil) in Azaddy Al-Ghazali Elementary School. The purpose of PENA is to educate about the values of diversity through storytelling and provide a space for creativity through drawing and coloring activities.
PENA was held offline from 1.30 PM–3.30 PM. This event was attended by 3rd – 6th graders, accompanied by university student volunteers who are members of “Sahabat Pena”. There were three main activities in PENA, namely a fairy tale reading session, drawing and coloring through “Galeri Mimpi”, and writing down hopes in “Kartu Impian Kami”. The elementary school students participated in these activities with enthusiasm and passion. They expressed that they were very happy with this event and hoped that the PENA volunteers would visit Azaddy Al-Ghazali Elementary School more often.
This event, initiated by Alya Arundhati, Maria Carolina, and Rosa Kristiani as Project Managers, is expected to provide real benefits through donations of books and other operational items. They also hope that the values about differences conveyed through the tales can be implemented in day-to-day life.
PENA was closed with a prayer led by one of the students of Azaddy Al-Ghazali Elementary School, marking the end of a meaningful and joyous event.
