Student Elections at the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Padjadjaran: Realizing Transparent and Participatory Leadership

On December 21, 2023, the Faculty of Psychology Universitas Padjadjaran held a general election to choose the Chairman of BEM Kema (Student Executive Board) and Senators of the Student Representative Council (BPM) for the 2024 period. This event took place in the ABC Hall of Building 2 from 16:55 to 20:08 WIB. The election is part of an effort to encourage student participation in decision-making processes and to create transparent and accountable leadership.

The election process was attended by several candidates who met the requirements and received support from their constituents. In the announcement of the results, Muhammad Ardaffa Dienullah Sofiandy was elected as the Chairman of BEM, receiving 252 votes. Additionally, 12 senators were elected from various cohorts: 3 from the 2021 cohort, 5 from the 2022 cohort, and 4 from the 2023 cohort.

This student election was not only about choosing leaders but also reflected the principles of Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) number 16, which emphasizes the importance of building peaceful, just, and inclusive societies. In this context, the student elections serve as a means to educate students about the importance of participating in democratic processes and to raise awareness of their social responsibilities as part of the academic community.

With a transparent voting mechanism in place, it is hoped that students will be more active in voicing their aspirations and opinions. This aligns with the goal of the 16th SDGs to ensure equal access to justice for all and to build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels.

The election concluded with the signing of the official report by the Chief Organizer of the Psychology Election (Pepsi) 2023, Farhan Febrian Jaenudin, and the Secretary of Pepsi 2023, Nalini Ajda Purwadi, affirming their commitment to conducting a fair and transparent election process. Through this election, it is expected that leaders will emerge who can bring positive change to the Faculty of Psychology Universitas Padjadjaran and the wider community.
