SMUP TRACKS OF GRADUATE PROGRAM IN PSYCHOLOGY (DOCTORAL) – (Regular Program and International Program)

General Requirements  

  1. Indonesian Citizen or Foreign Citizen
  2. Master program graduate accredited by BAN PT/LAM-PTKes.
  3. Have an Academic Ability Test (TKA) from Pusat Inovasi Psikologi Universitas Padjadjaran (PIP Unpad) score at least 500 or Academic Ability Test from other administering institutions recognized by UNPAD, namely:
    1. PLTI Himpsi;UGM;Unair;UI;BAPPENAS.
  4. Have a valid English Language Proficiency certificate and an English Proficiency Test (TKBI) score at least 500, or other English language proficiency tests as evidenced by the following documents:
    • International TOEFL (Paper-Based Test) certificate at least 500;
    • International TOEFL (Internet-Based Test) at least 61;
    • International TOEFL (Computer-Based Test) at least 173;
    • Test of English Proficiency (TOEP) from Pusat Layanan Tes Indonesia (PLTI) at least 500;
    • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic from institution British Council,IALF,and IDP at least 6;
    • English proficiency from Duolingo (https://englishtest.duolingo.com/) at least 85;
    • Language institute from ITB or UPI.
    • TKBI certificates/values outside the official institutions above, will not be verified as authentic documents in the selection process.

  5. Have a Statement of Guiding Willingness from the prospective Chairman of the Promoter;
  6. Have 2 (two) Letters of Recommendation;
  7. Have a Statement of Purpose (Statement of Purpose);
  8. Participants who have publications as the first author in the Q1 journal do not need to attach proof of the Academic Ability Test and English Language Proficiency Test.
  9. All files are attached or uploaded on the SMUP page when registering.

Special Requirements

Regular Program

International Program :

Joint Supervision & Joint Degree
  1. Graduated from undergraduate program (S1) Psychology
  2. Graduates of master’s programs (S2) in all related fields of science and support further study in S3 Psychology
  3. Have a minimum TKA/TPA value of 500
  4. Have a TKBI score: TOEFL at least 500 or IELTS at least 6.0
  5. Curriculum Vitae (accompanied by research experience other than undergraduate thesis and thesis)
  6. Attach Pre Dissertation Research Proposal
  7. Have research experience in addition to undergraduate thesis and thesis; preferably those who already have a National publication (accredited; as first author) and or international publication (minimum as co-author)
  8. Attach a Statement of Guiding Willingness from the candidate (Chairman) of the Promoter (see in ‘Direktori Kepakaran Fapsi Unpad’)
  9. Submit a color photo size 3X4
  10. Attach permission to join SMUP from superiors at the institution where you work
  11. Get 2 (two) letters of recommendation (download files here). Recommendation letters come from 2 lecturers (1 ex supervisor in Master’s Study Program at least Doctoral; 1 Professor/Professor in the scope of Psychology). The recommendation letter is sent by the recommender to the email (download file here) with the subject of Recommendation Letter_Full Name of Participant. Files are accepted until March 11, 2022.

  13. Other criteria: have emotional maturity, good interpersonal relations, and strong integrity
  14. All study processes (Enrichment Programs, guidance, and examinations) are carried out in Indonesia (unpad) with the OBE (Outcome-Based Education) curriculum
  15. Study Period: On time 6-8 semesters; maximum 14 semesters
  16. Final Examination Requirements (Doctoral Promotion): at least 3 reputable international journals
  1. Graduated from undergraduate program (S1) Psychology
  2. Graduates of master’s program (S2) in all related fields of science & support further study of S3 Psychology
  3. Have a minimum TKA/TPA value of 500
  4. Have TKBI score: TOEFL minimum 550 or IELTS minimum 6.5
  5. Curriculum Vitae (accompanied by research experience other than thesis and thesis).
  6. Attach Pre Dissertation Research Proposal
  7. Having research experience in addition to theses and theses as well as publications in the National Journal (Sinta) as First Author and or in International Journals as Co Author
  8. Attach a Statement of Willingness to Mentor from the prospective (Chairman) Promoter (from Unpad Fapsi) in accordance with the applicable criteria* regarding the Promoter of the Joint Degree Program
  9. Submit a color photo size 3X4
  10. Attach a permit to join SMUP from superiors at the institution where you work.
  11. Attach a letter of recommendation (download file here). Recommendation letters come from 2 Lecturers (1 ex supervisor in Master’s Study Program at least Doctoral; 1 Professor/Professor in the scope of Psychology).   12. Attach a Statement of Purpose
  13. The Enrichment program (12 credits) and all Seminars/Exams on the International Program are held in English. The difference between Joint Supervision and Joint Degree Programs is in:
    1. The Doctoral Promotion / Defense Final Examination Session is held only at Unpad
    2. For Joint Supervision (1 diploma) and held at 2 universities (Unpad & overseas universities) in the Joint Degree program (2 diplomas)
  14. During the study process, students get a supervisor/co promoter from MU
  15. Participants who do not pass the Joint Degree program selection still have the opportunity to qualify for the Regular Program.

(*) Provisions (Chairman) of Promoters in Joint Degree Programs (based on MU and UNPAD provisions)

  1. Dissertation Research topic areas in accordance with the requirements of the MU: Industrial & Organizational Psychology (PIO); Social Psychology; Health Psychology
  2. Eligible Promoter is Professor Functional Position or min. Head Lecturer, Expertise according to the topic in item A
  3. The Promoter has International Publications as First Author and Research Grants from within the country or abroad as Research Chairmen.

Registration Procedure

  • Check the general and specific requirements for applying to the intended study program.
  • Register and fill in data online on the https://pendaftaran.unpad.ac.id/login
    • page by filling in the following information:
      • Full name
      • Population Identification Number (NIK) / No. Passport
      • Email address
      • Phone number
      • Fill in the desired password to login to the SMUP participant portal.
      • Citizenship Data (country of citizenship).
      • Identity, address, data of origin of education, employment data, choice of level and study program.
    • Upload the original document as follows:
      • Diploma Certificate of Applied Bachelor or Bachelor degree program
      • Transcript of Applied Bachelor’s or Bachelor’s programs
      • Academic Ability Test Certificate (TKA): Center for Psychological Innovation at Universitas Padjadjaran (PIP Unpad), Bappenas, Himpsi, or TKA/TPA Tests issued by Legal Entity State Universities (PTNBH).

      • Certificate of English Proficiency Test which can be one of the following tests:

        • International English Testing System (IELTS) from institutions such as the British Council, IALF, or IDP
        • English Language Proficiency Test (TKBI) UNPAD
        • Test of English Proficiency (TOEP) from the Indonesian Test Service Center (PLTI).

      • TKA and and TKBI documents at No. 3 and No. 4 can be replaced by uploading paper publications in reputable international journals Q1 according to SJR: Scientific Journal Rankings – SCImago as the first author.

      • Statement of Purpose in Bahasa or English which contains the following:

        • Introduce yourself, your interests and motivations.
        • Briefly describe your undergraduate and postgraduate study journey (Summarize your undergraduate and previous graduate career)
        • Discuss the relevance of your recent and current activities
        • Explain your academic interests (Elaborate on your academic interests)
      • Passport Photo with white background size 3×4 cm
      • Identity card
      • Family card
      • Uploaded documents and data filled in by participants will be verified by the selection committee.
    • Obtain approval from the prospective promoter by:
    1. Participants look for potential promoters that match their research theme through the https://pendaftaran.unpad.ac.id/login page and access the “Expert Directory” menu.
    2. Participants fill out the submission form to get the contact address of the potential promoter.
    3. The SMUP committee sends contact information of prospective promoters to selection participants via email addresses or mobile phone numbers and also sends notification and participant information to prospective promoters.
    4. Participants contact potential promoters who have research topics that are in accordance with their research plans.
    5. Participants discuss research topics with potential promoters through any media.
    6. Prospective promoters provide an assessment of the research proposal submitted and provide a willingness to guide.
    7. Approval from the Prospective Promoter (LoA) is only valid for 1 (one) year from the date of approval.
  • Pay the registration fee to the Unpad designated Bank by previously printing the billing number obtained at the time of online registration of Rp. 750,000.
  • Print or save the exam participant card after making the payment on the https://pendaftaran.unpad.ac.id/login page.
  • Conduct online interview tests with video conference media according to a predetermined schedule.

Assessment Criteria

In determining which students will be accepted, the selection committee will consider the following:

  • Previous academic performance
  • Academic Ability Test Score and English Proficiency Test
  • Willingness of potential promoters
  • Results of interviews with prospective promoters
  • Motivation and academic potential obtained from the contents of the Statement of Purpose and interview results
  • Uploaded documents and data entered by participants will be verified by the Selection Committee.

Graduate Program in Psychology (Doctoral) Education Costs (BPP):

Regular : Rp. 20,000,000, – (Twenty Million Rupiah) per semester.

Joint Supervision : Rp. 30,000,000, – (Thirty Million Rupiah) per semester.

Joint Degree : Rp. 30,000,000, – (Thirty Million Rupiah) per semester
